TX Tech offering more merit aid

Hoping to hook more high-achieving students, Texas Tech officials recently upped the dollar amount of the university’s merit scholarships by hundreds and loosened the eligibility criteria for those scholarships, which are given to recent high school graduates with the highest grades and college entrance exam scores.

Amherst to go “need-blind” on international students

Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year, Amherst will extend the school’s need-blind admission policy to international students. This makes Amherst one of just eight colleges in the US to offer such a consideration to foreign applicants.  Way to go Amherst!

Perkins Loan predicament

Thousands May Lose Out on Perkins Loans This Year.  Fewer Perkins Loans, and smaller ones, will be available to financially needy students at colleges across the country because of cuts in federal funds and a decline in the consolidation of student loans.

Nevadans to pay more for college

Undergraduates will pay 5% more in tuition beginning in the fall of 2009 and then again another 5% more in the Fall of 2010.
